The chanichim should leave the sicha understanding

(1)   The power of Yom Ha’atzmaut – how all these different Jews came together to fight as an Am and why it was it was so important for the Jews in 1948 to have an independent Jewish State.

(2)   The battle for Yom Ha’atzmaut applies to us today and we can only truly appreciate it when looking at it as part of a cycle of the hardships of Jewish History (Yom Hashoah and Yom HaZicaron).

Being that Sunday is 10 Be’Tevet, we would like the chanichim to be confronted with the question: why is remembering important? 

Review some of the basic parts of the Israeli Army; Stress the impact that Tzahal has on every Jew.

goals:

The chanichim will understand the why it is important to have a flag.

The chanichim will know that what’s behind what eyes can see is more important

To understand how we still can celebrate Yom HaAtzmaut despite the time of terror and bloodshed

To teach the chanichim basic things about

Israel that they are familiar with but do not know enough about.

To deal with

Yom Ha’atzmaut, Israel’s national independence day and make sure they know about it.

The chanichim should leave the sicha understanding
