v     The chanichim will want to be part of the life that goes on in

Israel.

v     The chanichim will hear what a Jewish lifestyle in

Israel includes.

v     The chanichim will realize that the Jewish life is happening and if they want to be part of it they should start get ready.

To explain to your chanichim that it is not one characteristic that defines a good Jew, but there are many different types of Jews and we can’t really judge which is the best. There is no the best Jew! BUT the many different types of Jews all contribute to the idea of the Jewish identity.

Objective:  To expose the chanichim to the different religious, political and social aspects of Israeli society. 

In addition, to give the chanichim an opportunity to think about how and why Israeli society manifests these different views in the ways that it does.  (ie why bumper stickers?)

Teach about the Gevura of the Maccabim, as well as about the story of Chanuka

Chanukah, from a historical, rather than a hallachic point of view

Assimilation

To focus on Judaism and its connection to the technological aspects of the new millenium.  We want the chanichim to realize that all the new cool technology that is now available to the world can actually be used l’shem Shamayim. 

This week we can help the chanichim realize that everything ultimately comes from Hashem, even Nintendo!

To teach the chanachim about the problems of mixed marriage - through the story.
